The HR Manager is accountable for the Human Resource environment within the company and contributes to the overall profitability by providing sound and consistent guidance on all human resource issues and policies and procedures.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in business administration, human resources or equivalent combination of experience.
- 5+ years’ experience in a human resources management role.
- 5+ years’ experience in health and safety regulations
- Extensive knowledge in labour relations
- CHRP/CHRL designation is considered to be an asset.
SKILL REQUIREMENT

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promote people first culture
- Formulates and submits for approval, policies and practices pertaining to the company’s human resources activities and implements same upon approval.
- Provides assistance to all management groups in attaining their objectives by making available the required services and information.
- Maintain a harmonious working environment by ensuring that company policies and the collective agreement are applied in a fair and consistent manner, inclusive of administering discipline and maintaining attendance
- Administer and recommend health and safety policies ensuring compliance with company policy as well as governmental legislation.
- Participates in labour negotiations and is accountable for the preparatory work
- Maintain job descriptions, reviewing annually. Participates in job evaluation of all salary positions using a proven evaluation format.
- Recruit, select and indoctrinate new hires.
- In conjunction with department managers, plans required training programs for all company personnel.
- Develops and maintains the company’s succession plan & program.
- Advises employees of EAP/counselling programs or where to find such programs
- Career counselling and organizational development of employees
- Supervise and maintain the company’s health and safety program
- Give counsel on discipline practices, including attendance issues
- Overall administration of the collective agreement
- Perform any other duties that may be specifically or generally assigned
Be responsible for safety performance in the assigned areas:
- Participate in workplace inspections, such as layered audits,
- Carry out or contribute to information sessions, such as production meetings, safety talks and tail gate meetings,
- Conduct or participate in incident investigations as assigned,
- Contribute to an effective safety training program, ensuring staff are scheduled and participate,
- Take action to correct substandard acts or conditions,
- Provide performance feedback to employees and supervisors on health & safety performance,
- Observe and monitor employee safety,
- Ensure the standards of Sections 25, 26 & 27 of the OHSA are met.
- Use safety processes in all work and according to Dajcor Health & Safety, Environmental and Housekeeping Policies
